In collaboration with Lisa Koo Gautama and Gaia Op de Weegh

Ongoing since March 15, 2025 – Citadel Park & Ensemble vzw, Ghent

Rooted Encounters is an ongoing series of workshops that invites participants to explore their relationship with trees as more-than-human companions through music, movement, poetry, and improvisation. Blending artistic practice with ecological attention, these sessions offer a space for embodied listening, collective expression, and playful connection with the natural world.

Each workshop takes place on Saturdays, unfolding over three hours in Citadel Park or at Ensemble vzw. Activities include collaborative songwriting, intuitive voicework, dance, tree-climbing, and collective poetry-making—shaped by the mood of the group, the surrounding environment, and the trees themselves.

I contribute by facilitating musical and vocal elements, drawing from intuitive and somatic approaches to sound and listening. Working closely with Lisa Koo Gautama(Poetry, text ,dance and somatic movement), and Gaia Op de Weegh (tree-climbing and embodied ecology), we hold space for shared creativity and gentle experimentation.

Rooted Encounters is as much about art as it is about presence, reciprocity, and reconnecting with the quiet intelligence of the living world around us.
