Sonatas No. 1 & 2 – Composer: Mohammad Ali Salahi – Piano: Yasamin Hosseinzadeh
About this Album, Mohammad Ali Salehi writes:
Undoubtedly, the awareness that engaging in serious music (that which is far from mere entertainment) in today’s world is a particularly difficult task, is not hidden from anyone. What has driven me toward this path is complex and multifaceted, but I find it necessary to point out two aspects. First and foremost, it is evident to me that intellectualism and attention to rich art still hold a significant and respected place among a considerable portion of the people, despite the artistic anomalies and societal apathy. Therefore, to preserve and protect this, I have always strived to approach serious and academic music in a way that meets the tastes of the educated community, and my efforts are focused on further strengthening this through purposeful activities in the service of music. Secondly, I wished to connect my sonic and aesthetic concerns, which primarily involve the coexistence of elements from the ‘Classical,’ ‘Romantic,’ and ‘Late Romantic—20th Century’ periods, with the musical elements of Iran’s modal system and Western music theories. This aspiration could only be realized within the framework of academic and serious music.
